We’ve worked closely with over 250 women from diverse backgrounds to develop Maya Cares, our humble attempt to address the complex problem of racism. Maya is a made-for-purpose chatbot drawing on a resource library that provides culturally appropriate support, whether you’re looking for resources to learn about racism or seeking out culturally appropriate counsellors. With the Maya, you can confidentially report your experiences for advocacy and engage in exercises for emotional processing.

Maya is a made-for-purpose chatbot and your digital companion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Black and Women of Colour in Australia.
Maya supports our community on their self-empowerment journey to mitigate the negative impact of racism on mental health and well-being by accessing tailored support through our resource library and chatting to Maya. Through Maya you can can report racism and guide you through exercises for emotional processing and share stories with you.
Currently, the Maya Cares reporting is only available in English. We hope to expand our language offering over time.

Your data is private, anonymous and secure. Your report will remain anonymous, and treated with care under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).
Many cases of racism are not reported, making it seem less common or less severe than it really is. By sharing your story, you are helping to show that racism is real – and that it affects real people.
Personal stories like yours challenge stereotypes, evoke empathy, and drive change. They inspire action and solidarity, empowering others to support anti-racism efforts. These stories raise awareness about discrimination’s deep impact and help dismantle institutional racism.
Your report will inform our larger research to challenge anti-racism policies as they will be shared to organisations and media.
