The Maya Cares project was built to empower Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander, Black and Women of Colour.

 

We consulted community, along with mental health practioners and experts in anti-racism. We heard the need for simple to access resources to help through the difficult experiences of racism.

Guiding you step by step.

Our research has found that getting help with experiences of racism is difficult, especially if you’re unsure if what you went through was racism.

 

Maya supports you at your own pace. Through the chat tool, Maya will guide you, help you through the uncertainty, and with no judgement.

What is the Maya Cares chatbot?

The Maya Cares chatbot is a tool you can chat with but not a real person. Maya can give you friendly support, since racism is a difficult topic to provide resources and make a report.

To create Maya Cares, the team worked with experts in racism, mental health and spoke to Bla(c)k Women and Women of Colour.

Who can use the Maya Cares chatbot?

Everyone can access the Maya Cares chatbot. Maya Cares was made by and for our community of Bla(c)k Women and Women of Colour who have experienced and / or are experiencing racism. However, this resource is available for everyone interested in being better educated in racism and sharing their story.

How secure is my data?

Your data is private, anonymous and secure. Your report will remain anonymous, and treated with care under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).
